Follow up:

I am sad to report that this was my first brewing failure. I suspect that it is from one or both of the following reasons:

1. Due to the late hour when we wrapped up the boil, I set the entire brew kettle inside the fridge for cooling until the next morning when I could bottle. I suspect that during this time period the wort was contaminated.

2. I originally suspected a problem with out mash conversion because of the low specific gravity and cloudiness. To test for chill haze, caused by incomplete starch conversion, I let several bottles sit at room temp for a few days. Chill haze would clear after warming up. These didn't clear at all. Not a good sign. However, I think we resolved the issues we had with our mash process since then. I'll save the details for another blog.

The resulting beverage was disappointing. The aroma was foul and let's just say the taste was less than appealing. It made me sad to have to pour beer down the drain. It's against my fundamental nature. One of the many fun parts of home brewing, or life for that matter, is that you tend to learn more from the failures than from the successes.

Stay tuned for more brewing adventures. Our next brew will be something dark for the winter season. Mark and I have been discussing a Guinness style ale.

Cheers and happy brewing!

I've decided, after much persuasion from my advertising savvy half, to keep the logos the same (for branding purposes) and only change the textual content.

My liege...I have found'eth what'eth you look'eth for.

Well, that sounds funnier when you actually say it. I have no real clue how to spell it. You get the picture!

Marty! Did you see the t.v. ad for Sam Adam's beer? The one where he actually invented the "perfect" beer mug? It has a ring at the bottom for bubbles, the skinny middle and weird fatish top. Now THAT is hard core beer loving!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care! Keep blogging!

Marty,

Been think about you this week. Your epiphany is crucial to staying positive. I'm thankful to hear about it. Looking forward to seeing you more as summer winds down.

God bless,

Thanks Robert! Glad you could make it by.

Hopefully I can keep things interesting.

I can put a link to your blog, if you like. The only thing I ask is that you reciprocate.
