Hey boys and girls, tomorrow (9/17/2011) will be another brew day!
I’ve been remiss, so it’s time to fire up the brew kettle and hang out on the driveway.
This time around I’ll be repeating the Belgian triple since it was such a huge success. Plus I’ll be trying out an idea I came across for a wort chiller. (Pics available post event).
There’s another plan in the works for the near future. So stay tuned…
Before I forget, here is the completely random playlist …
The Old 97’s inspired Pandora station is piping though the speakers. I’m in to my first cup of coffee, so here it goes…
Things have come a long way in the past year… except for the number of posts. I’m making a goal of having post on more than an annual basis. First, I’ll just do some stream-of -consciousness blabbering while I flesh out some ideas.
There’s a heat wave going on 100+ deg. F for 60+ days. The east coast of the U.S. was hammered by a hurricane-turned-tropical storm and we’re working a serious drought. Looks like my rain dance didn’t work. I think I scared the new neighbors, too.
The house has been rockin’ lately thanks to our vintage Rock-ola 474.
It’s not high quality audio, by any means, but in 1978 this thing was state of the art. The big clunky mechanics spinning around and grabbing 45’s makes one feel a bit nostalgic. The thing was loaded with the likes of ABBA, the GoGo’s, Dion, Bryan Adams, John Cougar, Bay City Rollers, Kool and the Gang… definitely disco heavy.
I was experimenting with the HD camera on my phone and was snapping random pictures to see what the quality was like. I thought this image turned out rather nice, so I decided to preserve it for posterity.
I know it has been a while, but it doesn’t matter. The only people who read this blog are spammers, primarily Russian. At least I know the site is visible.
Those of you who know me know that I’m back with a full time gig. This is an update on my progression.
Thus far I’ve had to learn one of Microsoft’s newest technologies: Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). There has been a lot to absorb while learning and contributing to the team.
With my experience in the software development biz, I’ve had to do a significant amout of user interface work. I’ve learned that a good design is a tradeoff between realism and clarity. I came across a blog that underscores this, so I thought I’d share.
Realism in UI Design
It’s a clear and calm night, stirring some cathartic creativity.
All is quiet except for me poking around the dead things in my mind. It keeps me from feeling sorry for myself. I abhor self pity. It makes me feel helpless and whiny. I should be thankful for everything my life has equated to at this point, but I feel like I’m not holding up my end of the bargain. It’s hard to be thankful amidst the guilt, but this feeling, too, shall pass. After all, I’ve always been a firm believer that if something doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger.

I highly recommend the Papazian books for the novice. Some of the better starter kits include The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, so be sure to check the contents!
